I say do away with the DH.

I have never understood why pitchers don't master the art of bunting. A pitcher who is an expert at bunting could have a major impact on a game.

Imagine how many managers would do everything possible to have a man on base when the pitcher is due up. You can just see the outfielders rushing in to cut off the bunt. However, if the pitcher can lay down a perfect bunt most likely the runner will steal a base and at worst the pitcher will be thrown out.

If a pitcher gets the reputation of being an excellent bunter then he will get walked more often than he will strike out. You cut off the 'gimme' that the opposing pitcher has of walking a player to get at the weak pitcher.

Now take the scenario one step further. Teach the pitcher to hit a 'slapper' over the heads of the basemen who are in too close expecting that bunt. BINGO. Instead of carrying the liability of an automatic out you now have another big gun in your arsenal.

Bunting is a lot harder than it looks. Pitchers do practice to become good at it. I think you should try to bunt a 95 mph fastball or a curveball that breaks from 12 to 6.

I agree, DH ruins the strategy involved in a game, do I let the pitcher hit if he is on his game or do I pinch hit trying to get a run in?
It makes the manager have to do something other then watch the game
