Why are they "dumbfounded"???
Their record against above-500 teams is a miserable 1-3 this season.
Against below-500 teams they are 4-0.
The only reason they are 5-3 is because they know how to schedule weak teams. Their remaining 4 games includes 3 above-500 teams, all on the road!! You can chalk all of those up in the loss column.
Their only win will be at home to a horrible (2-6) Syracuse team.
That leaves them 6-6 at the end of the season., with a very sad 1-6 record against teams above-500.
The only people dumbfounded are Notre Dame fans.
